Contact, 6 hours). An emphasis on materials and
technique of painting on canvas to develop a personal
style.s. Prerequisites: ARTS 110 and 130.

BIOL 543. PARASITOLOGY (Credit, 4 hours). (Lecture, 2 hrs; Lab., 4 hrs per week). This course is designed to provide an in-depth study of the phenomena of parasitism and pathogenicity in vertebrates, including humans. Emphasis will be on the identification, life cycles, physiology, symptoms, diagnosis, epidemiology, causes and treatments of parasitic diseases. The course will include a discussion of host-parasite relationships. The biochemical aspects of parasitology will be stressed.

Physical Science I

SPHY 102LB. PHYSICAL SCIENCE I LABORATORY (Credit, 1) (Lab., 2 hours). This laboratory class accompanies SPHY 102B lecture course. It therefore carries out experiments directly related to concepts and principles developed in the lecture course. Specific experiments include error analysis, measurements of length and time, volume and density, graphing of data, velocity and acceleration, the simple pendulum experiment, free fall, static and rotational equilibrium, measurements of the temperature of a flame, work and energy, conductivities of solutions. Every laboratory session is to lead to a well-written, neat, and complete report. Co-requisite: SPHY 102B.

PPOL 784. POLITICAL ECONOMY. (Credit, 3 hours). This course is about interactions between politics and markets mostly under democratic capitalism. It emphasizes the classical, neoclassical, and positive viewpoints of market economies including social institutions, industrial organization, regulation, the political business cycle, globalization, and international political economy.

357. ANALYZING CRIME: PRACTICAL
METHODOLOGY AND STATISTICS (Credit,
3 hours). A combination of statistics and methodology,
this course will guide students through definition
and application of techniques. Meant to
not only address research issues, this course
emphasizes practical use of data in criminal and
civil litigation. Real case materials are provided to
the student as well as computer techniques for
developing and enhancing skills for creation and
analysis of crime data in prosecution and civil litigation.
Prerequisite: CRJU 311.

Topics include a review of the real numbers and their properties; operations with complex numbers; equations and inequalities; polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions and their graphs; and systems of equations and inequalities. Modelling is introduced and applications are emphasized. Designed for students in the business, scientific, or engineering programs. Graphing calculators recommended. Prerequisite: Placement examination.
